Cookie policy

Short version: this site runs on a handful of strictly necessary cookies — the kind that don't need your consent under EU law because the site can't function without them. Anything beyond that, analytics included, is loaded only if you accept it in the banner; decline and no third-party script is fetched at all. No advertising or retargeting cookies are set either way, and you can change your answer at any time.

01

What a cookie is

A small text file a site asks your browser to store, then reads back on later visits or later page loads — used here to keep basic things working and, with your consent, to count visits; not to build a profile of you.

02

The cookies we set to keep the site working

sessionid — keeps your session (your comparison list, your subscribe confirmation state) attached to your browser between page loads; expires when you close the browser or after a period of inactivity. csrftoken — a security cookie that stops other sites from submitting forms on this site pretending to be you. cookie_consent — remembers your answer to the banner for six months, so we don't ask on every page. None of the three is used to track you across other sites, and none is sold or shared with advertisers.

03

Analytics — only if you say yes

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages get read, so we know which tests and reviews are worth doing next. It sets two cookies in your browser — _ga and _ga_<property id> — which distinguish one browser from another and expire after two years. They are set only after you press "Accept analytics"; until then the Google tag is not loaded at all, and if you decline it is never loaded. We run Google's Consent Mode with advertising storage and personalisation switched off, so the data is not used for ads. Google acts as our processor and may process the data outside the EU under its standard contractual clauses.

04

What we don't do

No advertising or retargeting cookies, no social-network pixels, no data brokers, no selling of anything to anybody. The ad placeholders you may see on some pages are not live — once an ad network is live, its cookies (if any) will be disclosed here and added to the banner before they are set, not after.

05

Your choices

The strictly necessary cookies above can be stored without asking first under the ePrivacy Directive. Analytics cannot, which is why the banner asks — and why declining is one click, in the same size type as accepting. You can change your answer at any time using the button at the bottom of this page, and you can always block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. Doing that may sign you out of your session or reset your comparison list.

06

Changes to this policy

If the cookies this site sets ever change, this page is updated first, dated at the bottom, and the consent question is asked again — a stored answer only covers the set of cookies it was given for, never a new one added later.
